San Diego Lifestyle Blog and Directory Website Design: The Beach San Diego

The Beach San Diego was a full build for a content-rich lifestyle site and local directory focused on the San Diego area. It served as a go-to hub for restaurants, bars, events, beaches, salons, attractions, and local business listings.

This project was a fun one to design. The site was built to reflect the San Diego beach lifestyle, using bright color blocks, water-inspired textures, and soft gradients to create a sunny, ocean-side vibe. The layout was structured around two key goals: content consumption and directory navigation.

Key features I built into the design:

  • Sidebar-driven navigation for fast browsing across categories
  • Custom weather and surf widget for live local updates
  • Directory sections for food, drink, wellness, and entertainment
  • Blog-style news posts and announcements
  • Built-in ad slots for monetization and cross-promotion

Even though the site had a lot going on, I made sure to keep the layout clean and structured so users could explore without feeling overwhelmed. Every section was clearly labeled, and the user flow moved smoothly from homepage to listings to blog content.

This project showcases how I build local content hubs that blend design with usability. Whether the goal is SEO traffic, local engagement, or monetization, I build directory sites that are structured to grow.
